Tips to Prepare for your Business Headshot

Whether you are doing a photo session to be displayed on your company website or to use it as your LinkedIn profile picture, you must ensure to click a picture that you can proudly show to others.

Be it an interview or audition; people usually see the picture before meeting you, so make sure your picture makes you stand out from others. By following a few tips, you can make sure you leave a good impression by putting a minimal effort.

Here are some tips to help you look your best in business headshots.

Get a Good Sleep

Nothing can be more pleasing than finishing one more episode on Netflix or to have drinks with your friends. However, you must know that taking quality sleep before your business headshot can make a huge difference. Quality sleep will make you look relaxed and refreshing, and it will make your look more appealing. It will also avoid having dark circles under the eyes that make you look dull. So, if you want a more refreshed and enthusiastic look in the photo session, take proper sleep before the photo session.

Decide What to Wear

Most people remain confused about choosing the clothes for the photo session. All leading experts in professional headshot photography always suggest wearing neat and ironed formal clothes. Take it as you are going to attend a client meeting. Although a professional headshot only highlights the head and shoulders, an un-ironed shirt or a dirty t-shirt can spoil the entire purpose of a photoshoot. If you wear glasses, you can decide whether or not you want to wear them during the photo session. If you don't want to look geeky in the photo, make sure you take them off before 30 minutes to avoid red marks on your nose.

Know-How to Pose

A wrong pose can reflect a lack of confidence and nervousness. Make sure you adjust yourself at a 45º angle in front of the camera. If it might sound more confusing, don't worry, a professional photographer can help you guide you through the complete shoot. Knowing all these tricks will help if you ever consider attempting model portfolio photography.

Know Your Best Side

Many people are familiar with the best sides of their face or bodies that help them click stunning pictures. You may choose a particular pose or face posture to hide your face's specific shape or imperfection. If you have any such best side in your mind, tell it to your photographer so you can get the most out of the professional photo session!
